What Is It Like to Live in League City, Texas?

Houston is one of the most popular, populous, and important cities in the United States. 50 miles from Houston, you have Galveston, a popular tourist destination. But between the two, a small, sleepy city called League City sits as a hidden gem. Many people are moving to League City because of the ideal location, favorable climate, and recreational opportunities.

From our experience as Texas-based residential movers, we explain what living in League City is like.

League City is 26 miles from Houston and Galveston

League City is only 26 miles from Houston. So as a League City resident, it will take you about a half an hour to reach one of the most bustling cities in Texas. Interstate 45 S connects the two cities. So, despite not living in Houston, you can always catch up with the latest entertainment events, sporting events, and political campaigns in the big city.

In addition to Houston, League City is also close to Galveston. The distance is approximately the same (27 miles, to be precise) if you follow Interstate 45 S on the opposite side. Thus, within half an hour, you’ll be on the glorious, pristine beaches of Galveston. This proximity to the best of Texas makes League City special.

League City has laid back small city vibes

Houston can be overwhelming. The traffic,, the air pollution, and the bustling crowd may make the city feel less desirable as a place to live. League City is exactly the opposite. Located within the Greater Houston metropolitan area, it is relatively relaxed. The population of around 115,418 (As of July 1, 2022) follows a laid back, easy, fun lifestyle.

The city has a comfort index of 3.1 during summers and 8.0 during winters, which reflects the city’s hot summers and comfortable winters. Beautiful coastal views and benevolent southern charm add to the laid back vibes.

As per our experience as Texas movers, not all neighborhoods are created equal. The northern portion of Clear Creek falls within the Harris County zone. It is designed for both residential and commercial purposes. Thus, it may resemble parts of Houston. Mar Bella is located near the lakes and thus is more relaxed. The same can be said about the Cypress Bay area and the Claremont Park location.

League City has a competitive housing market

That being said, some neighborhoods are more expensive than others. The median home value in Westover Park is $611,093, with a median rent of $2,124. Mar Bella neighborhood is far less at $317,110 with a median rent of $1,457.

The former is now part of the West Bay Common School Children’s Museum and simulates the 19th-century classroom environment. It is well-preserved and worth a visit as soon as you move to League City.
